Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a junior paralegal in our Baltimore office to work with lawyers both inside and outside the department to provide the highest quality of legal assistance to our clients. The junior paralegal shall possess a mastery of technical and administrative skills, assume responsibility with minimal supervision, exercise initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of their assigned authority, work individually and as part of a team, and practice collaboration with firm employees in all offices.
The successful candidate will:
- assist with the due diligence, preparation of documents and assistance with closings;
- assist with title and survey review on real estate finance transactions;
- prepare routine transaction documents;
- assist with researching federal, state and local laws; and
- file UCCs and other required filings.
This position requires someone who is energetic, detail-oriented and has a strong desire to grow in the position. Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and within time constraints. Strong proofreading skills, research, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential to be successful in this position.
Minimum requirements include a four-year college degree or paralegal certificate however significant relevant work experience will be considered in place of college degree. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, intermediate level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel) and document management systems. Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
