My retirement creates a unique opportunity here at Federal Title for someone interested in a small firm, working a part time schedule while enjoying full time benefits.  This is a 20 hour per week position with flexible hours that can be worked in the office or remotely.  Candidates may apply to the position described in part below via:

Human Resources and Compliance Director

The Human Resources and Compliance Director works under the direction of the President, and Founder and Chief Executive Officer, and is responsible for all personnel related functions, payroll, company-wide insurances, licensing, and Best Practices compliance.  

Human Resources

Maintain functional knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Recruit, interview, hire and terminate, and on-board and off-board employees.  Maintain all personnel hire, tax, pay, benefits, counseling, and discharge documentation.   

Develop, implement, and track human resource related policies and procedures, and develop an employee handbook.        


Submit semi-monthly payroll, and coordinate payroll processes with outside vendor. Track time, PTO, pay changes, FSA and 401(k) deductions, and other payroll variables. Troubleshoot payroll issues and respond to queries.  

Coordinate out of DMV region state withholding and unemployment insurance tax accounts with outside vendor, and monitor payroll tax compliance.  


Medical – Set up employee DC Health Link accounts and guide employees through the enrollment process. Coordinating with an outside plan administrator, manage the annual open enrollment process for Health/Dental/Vision benefit plans. Act as first tier benefit support resource.   

COBRA – Coordinate notifications and management of process with outside administrator.

Section125 - Coordinating with an outside plan administrator, manage the annual open enrollment process for the Section 125 plan, providing pre-tax FSA accounts for employees. Periodically review the status of each FSA account including balances and spending.  Perform annual compliance testing.  

Retirement - Perform annual 401(k) compliance testing in coordination with outside administrator.  Coordinate with in-house staff individual notifications and enrollment processes and make payroll deductions and loans adjustments.

Other - Manage and track fringe benefits such as dedication awards, and education expense reimbursements.   


Licensing - Monitor company business and professional license status and apply for renewal of DC, MD, and VA business licenses.

Continuing Education - Monitor status of individual professional licenses and commissions.  Plan and coordinate in-house CE classes, and research and provide information for on-line CE opportunities.

Business Insurance - Work with an outside insurance agent to apply for, secure and renew all business insurance policies and bonds including professional liability, fidelity, commercial liability, cyber liability, surety bonds, and workers’ compensation coverages.

Best Practices - Responsible for managing the Best Practices plan, including periodic background checks, ongoing escrow management and accounting training, oversee the Privacy and Information Security Plan, periodically sample closed files for accurate pricing, and respond to internal and external best practices queries.
