Director of Administration- Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss PLLC

The Director of Administration is a senior non-attorney professional, reports to the Equity and Managing Partners of the Firm and attends all Equity and Non-Equity Partner meetings (Principal Office Only).  The DOA supervises all non-attorney staff and oversees all office operations. 

The DOA is responsible for the human resource functions and for managing the administrative affairs of the Firm.  This includes the development and implementation of policies in the areas of finance, human resources, IT, and general administrative areas.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Financial
    • All accounting functions (accounts payable, billing, AR, collections)
    • General ledger
    • Bank accounts (operating and trust accounts) and banking relationships
    • Payroll
    • Financial reporting
    • Client setup/conflict checks
  • Human Resources
    • Staff management, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, annual reviews
    • Benefit management (renewals, enrollment, compliance)
    • Business insurance management and renewals
    • Event planning
  • Facilities & Technology
    • Leases, office relocation and space planning
    • Landlord/sub-tenant relationships
    • Office services, library, vendor contracts/relationships
    • Office equipment (telephones, copiers, office furniture)
    • IT infrastructure (computer/software upgrades; technology upgrades)


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; MBA a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in law firm management
  • Strong supervisory, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience using accounting computer programs, MS Office Suite, especially Excel
