Wiley has an opening for a Professional Development Coordinator.  This role supports the Director of Legal Talent in coordinating and contributing to the design, development, implementation, communication and evaluation of attorney training and development programs for the firm.   The Professional Development Coordinator also collaborates with Marketing & Business Development and other administrative teams to develop effective programs, processes and initiatives that positively contribute to attorney development, retention and progression.

This position is eligible to participate in the firm's flexible work program.


  • Assist Chief Talent Officer and Director of Legal Talent in identifying training needs and developing legal training programs.
  • Managing program logistics, including scheduling, registration, materials, and on-site logistics, including conference room facilities, catering, and technology.
  • Identifying internal and external speakers, providing input and guidance prior to program delivery and post-program feedback.
  • Further developing and enhancing the firm’s mentoring and integration programs for associates and new lateral attorneys that supports and promotes skill development and personal growth.
  • Provide coordination and support for all mentoring activities and programming at the firm.
  • Coordination of the Professional Development Partner program including development of program materials and assignments.
  • Support additional initiatives, programs, and communications that promote attorney development and integration.
  • Identifying and implementing trends that impact professional development in the legal industry to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and innovation within the firm.


  • Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
  • Position requires that the employee have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • This position is primarily a sedentary position. However, some duties and responsibilities are required which would require the applicant to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, occasionally move about to access office equipment, file cabinets, etc.

  • Four-year undergraduate degree required
  • One to three years of experience working within legal talent, human resources, or training and development within a law firm or professional services organization
  • Display well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm
  • Excellent written, communication and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail and presentation
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion
